You Can Now Go to Egypt’s Cursed Tombs

It is now possible to visit Egypt’s “cursed tombs” for the first time in 30 years. The only question is whether you would want to.

The tombs are considered to be cursed since they contain the bodies of the people who built the Great Pyramid of Giza. It is thought that the royal palace supervisor Nefer Theth put a curse on the massive grave site to protect it from robbers. The remains of Theth are also inside the tomb.

The belief that the tombs are cursed is so widely held that an archaeologist named Zahi Hawass once wrote that “all people who enter this tomb will make evil against this tomb and destroy it, may the crocodile be against them in water and snakes against them on land.”

The 4,500-year-old tomb is being opened up now because it is thought that doing so will help boost local tourism. The question is how many people will be willing to take their chances of testing out that ancient curse.
